Cubaneo is the traditional Cuban quartet made up of experienced musicians with an extensive repertoire that includes the old and the new ‘troba’ (styles) as well as sones, boleros, habaneras, guajiras, guarachas, among other styles to the accompaniment of guitars, bases and percussion. Their repertoire, considered ‘elegant’ by the experts, includes their own compositions as well as those classical pieces that are indestructible.
This group was started in 2003, when Carlos Lage and Mane Ferret began to play traditional Cuban pieces in bars and small venues A year later, they were joined by Olnides Ribeaux, an excellent percussionist as well as an expert in Cuban popular culture. Still later, the group invited Yuniel Jiménz to join them in forming its definitive formation.
